By filling out the application and submitting your check you are agreeing to become a member of Westwood Farm of Alden CSA for one season. This agreement will grant the exchange of resources between CSA members and Westwood Farm of Alden. Members are providing capital in exchange for produce from Westwood Farm of Alden. By doing so, you are engaging in a mutually beneficial relationship that ensures sustainability and prosperity of local food production on our farm and the availability of wholesome food and a connection to agrarian traditions for the community. The concept of CSA grew out of a need for farmers to gain access to capital during the year. By acquiring “up-front money” from known customers, it gives the farmer an opportunity to remain un-indebted to banks. We run our business off un-indebted practices. CSA stands for “community supported agriculture” in which members of the community purchase shares in a local farm. In return, members receive a weekly box of fresh vegetables (or other products, depending on the type of farm) throughout the growing season. This model has been used by many small farms to ensure their viability and vitality in providing local communities fresh, nutrient-dense produce. It also provides members a direct connection to the farmer, thereby promoting an understanding of the growing practices involved. Having access to a local food source ensures the freshest food while fostering less reliance on food systems (e.g., grocery stores) utilizing shipping over large distances.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) involves a commitment between a farm and a shareholder. Two Girls and a Farm is committed to providing weekly deliveries of high quality, responsibly grown produce to shareholders from June through October 2019. All deliveries ordered hereunder will be available for pickup every Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM or Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM (noon).
