Bradford College recruits over 60% of its undergraduate students from widening participation backgrounds. The successful recruitment and retention of these students is a central part of the College’s higher education strategy. Charging a fee of £6700 in 2012 for three year degree courses and a range of fees for Foundation degrees at £4000 upwards will enable the College to increase its investment in the retention and improved results for these students, details of the opportunities planned are outlined below.

Croydon College is a significant provider of higher education (HE) in South London with approximately 1,500 students studying full time and part time, undergraduate, post graduate and professional programmes. As a mixed economy institution with approximately 17,000 further and higher education students in total, the College is in a unique position to meet the educational needs of a wide range of students from a variety of backgrounds, facilitating progression to higher education through vocational further education (FE) pathways.

Somerset College is a medium sized further and higher education College with a long standing provision of higher education which represents some 20% of the College’s total income. There are 739FTE, of which 715 are full-time and the remainder part-time. The College is based in the County town of Somerset, a relatively rural location and in an area which has a dearth of university provision.

Blackpool and The Fylde College has an extensive and longstanding portfolio of Higher Education programmes, which comprises awards at degree and post graduate levels including Diploma in Management Studies; and intermediate and certificate level courses including Foundation Degrees, Higher National Awards, Professional Maritime Awards and Professional Construction Awards. The great majority of programmes are validated by Lancaster University, with a small number validated by other universities, including the University of Central Lancashire, Liverpool John Moore.

On 1st August 2007 St Martin’s College amalgamated with Cumbria Institute of the Arts to form the University of Cumbria. For academic year 2007-08 the access agreement for St Martin’s College will remain in place. From academic year 2008- 09 and onwards the University of Cumbria has a single approved access agreement.
