The Government of Alberta sponsors a number of drug plans for the general purpose of making certain drugs available, on an affordable basis, to Albertans. Alberta Health and Wellness provides for the ongoing availability of drugs to these drug plans through the implementation of policies and processes that provide for drug reviews, drug pricing and drug “listing”. Collectively, the polices, processes, the specific drugs that are identified and listed through the policies, and any drug access rules, make up the overall Alberta Health and Wellness Drug Benefit List (AHWDBL).
