Use of remote work options promote the health and safety of Oregonians; ensures high-quality work and optimal use of resources for agencies; ensures cultural, equity and accessibility issues are addressed in a meaningful way; and supports flexibility and work-life balance for employees. It also offers the opportunity to be more flexible in interactions with the Oregonians we serve and decreases an agency's impact on the environment. Remote work arrangements are subject to the State Policy 50.050.01 (Working Remotely) and the terms and conditions of this collective bargaining agreement.

Working Remotely. 43:01 Where operationally feasible and mutually agreed upon between the employee and the manager, an employee may be allowed to temporarily work remotely dependent on the nature of their duties and that they have the available infrastructure.

Working Remotely. Acknowledging that we are currently in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, Employees may work at home instead of physically traveling to the Employer’s office upon approval from the Employer. In continuance with the Employer’s existing practices (unrelated to COVID) regarding flexible work, Employees may occasionally work at home instead of physically traveling to the Employer’s office upon approval from the Employer. The Employer reserves the unilateral right to direct any Employee to work from any work location, including a particular office, and to modify any work arrangement previously granted. Should the Employer require a bargaining unit Employee to relocate for work who lives outside of the tri-state area and was hired to perform a job remotely (unrelated to Covid accommodations), the Employer shall provide four (4) months notice and shall reimburse moving expenses directly connected to relocation of up to two thousand five hundred dollars ($2500). For reimbursement, Employees must submit expenses that are eligible for reimbursement in accordance with the Company’s policies within thirty (30) days of the expense being incurred.
Working Remotely. If working remotely, bargaining unit members shall continue to be available and working during their entire work day. In all aspects of the work day, unit members will conduct themselves professionally and reasonably. To the extent possible, remote teaching will be conducted through a computer camera or tablet device and not through a mobile phone. Remote teaching may not be conducted while in a vehicle or while in motion (unless movement is required as part of the bargaining unit member’s assignment). Bargaining unit members must be available for contact by administration, students, parents, and guardians during the assigned workday. They must also adhere to the instructional schedules established by the District and refrain from social media activity of a personal nature on social media platforms during regular working hours, outside of their duty-free lunch. A remote working arrangement may be discontinued if unit members are not fulfilling their essential duties from home.
Working Remotely. Where possible, attempts will be made to promote working remotely or telecommuting. When working remotely, unit members may elect to use their own computer or mobile device, or the district will provide a device for use at home. If needed, VPN access may be provided, where appropriate, for unit members to access District applications remotely (such as PeopleSoft).
