Vertical Advancement a. An employee shall advance vertically one (1) step on the salary schedule for each year of experience in the district.

Vertical Advancement. 10.4.1 After initial placement, a bargaining unit member shall be granted one vertical step for each year of service to Goleta Union School District, provided the unit member works at least fifty percent (50%) time and for at least seventy-five percent (75%) of each established school year. Time spent on sick leave, bereavement leave, and industrial accident or illness leave, or other leaves for which salary benefits are provided by the District, and for military leave during the period of employment by Goleta Union School District shall count as service for purposes of vertical advancement.
Vertical Advancement. On July 1 for 12 month employees and on the first work day after June 30 for less than 12 month employees the employee shall advance vertically one (1) step on the salary schedule for each year of experience in the District. For purposes of eligibility for step advancement, a year of service shall be defined as 120 days or more on active pay status since the employee’s last increment. Bargaining unit members holding contracts in more than one classification will advance on the salary scale according to years of experience in each classification. The exception would be if a bargaining unit member who has had more than one contract in different classification would for any reason change to just one contract in one classification. Then that bargaining unit member shall receive all his/her district seniority and highest contract obtained in that one classification and shall be placed on the salary schedule of that one classification according to his/her years of seniority in the district.
Vertical Advancement. After initial employment, vertical advancement on the salary schedule from one step to the next shall be allowed where the employee has worked 75% of the number of days of a full time employee. Vertical advancement will be made at the beginning of each new fiscal year.

Vertical Advancement. All bargaining unit members who work or are on authorized paid leave under section 23.2 for 75% or more of the school year shall receive one year’s credit on the salary schedule. Bargaining unit members who work or are on authorized paid leave under section 23.2 for less than 75% of the school year, shall be eligible to earn one year of service when the cumulative total is at least 1 full year, by June 30 of the previous year, e.g. a 60% employee earns a year of service after completing two years of part-time service. Such movement on the schedule only occurs at the start of a new school year.
Vertical Advancement. In order to qualify for a full vertical step on the schedule, a teacher must have been employed as a full-time teacher for a minimum of 120 instructional days. All other teachers will be considered part-time and vertical advancement will be prorated.
