The HMO must use information technology to improve communication within and across health care settings and to reduce fragmentation in the delivery of services to the member. The HMO must encourage use of the Office of the National Coordinator’s (ONC) Interoperability Standards Advisory best available standards to share information electronically across the continuum of care.
