Common use of UNION DUES AND SECURITY Clause in Contracts

UNION DUES AND SECURITY. Any employee who, as of the effective date of this Agreement, is a member of the Union in good standing or who may become a member during the life of this Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, continue such membership. All employees covered by this Agreement shall pay monies equal to the established dues of the Union. Any new employee hired under the terms of this Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, make application for membership in the Union within thirty (30) days. Notwithstanding any new employee who has not applied for membership in the Union, who chooses to opt out of membership of the Union, must notify the Union in writing within thirty (30) days after date of hire of intention to opt out; otherwise such employee will automatically become and remain a member of the Union. The Employer agrees to forward all Union dues deducted to the Union on or before the fifteenth (15th) day of the next month following the month for which dues have been deducted, together with a list of its members who had dues deducted in the previous month plus mailing address, job classification, status of employment (permanent, seasonal, temporary, or casual) and starting date.
