Common use of Unfortunately Clause in Contracts

Unfortunately. the use of this compound did not bring a definitive end to cancer, since it only showed anticancer activity against certain types of tumours. Some tumours avoid the action of cisplatin, being this resistance in some cases intrinsic, but also in some others acquired. Finally, cisplatin therapy produces severe side-effects, namely neurotoxicity, ototoxicity, nausea, vomiting, bone marrow dysfunction and nephrotoxicity, the latter being dose-limiting. Research has been focused on several fronts. Understanding the transport of the drug in the body and its cellular uptake, as well as its mechanism of action inside the cell, is crucial for the design of improved pharmaceuticals. The development of synthetic methods that rapidly yield compound libraries to be screened afterwards for anticancer activity allows for a very efficient trial-and-error strategy. Since cisplatin is indeed effective against certain tumours, studies are also being done about how to avoid its undesired side effects, while still retaining the therapeutic value of the drug.
