Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. All effort will be made by County Department of Human Resources to transfer any employee who is to be affected by a reduction in force to another vacant position for which such employees may qualify prior to the effective date of lay off. The length of eligibility for such transfer will be the period of notification as provided in Section 7 but no longer than the effective date of such layoff or reduction. An employee who does not accept the transfer will be laid off.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. In the Department of Corrections, an employee who is not actually laid off from a work location that has scheduled layoffs---but who transfers to another work location in lieu of being laid off---shall be placed on the layoff unit recall list for the employee’s classification for the work location from which the employee transferred, but only under the following conditions:
a. The Employer has formally notified the Union of its plans to schedule layoffs at the employee’s original work location; and
b. The employee’s original work location is not closing; and
c. The employee’s classification is one in which layoffs are being scheduled at the employee’s original work location; and
d. The effective date of the employee’s transfer to the different work location is later than the date the Employer notifies the Union of its plans to schedule layoffs at the original work location, but before the effective date of the layoffs at the original work location. Such transferred employee shall be recalled from the original layoff unit recall list in the same manner as if he/she had actually been laid off from that work location. Implementation of this procedure shall be monitored by the Department of Corrections Central Personnel Office.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. 19.2.1 Employees shall be offered the opportunity to fill vacancies for which they are qualified in other reporting locations in the same title classification or another title classification on the same wage schedule. The filling of such vacancies shall be in order of seniority.
19.2.2 In the event that there are not enough volunteers, the Company may assign employees in the surplus reporting location and classification to vacancies in the same classification within a radius of 25 miles from his/her current reporting location. Such assignments will be made on the basis of inverse seniority.
19.2.3 Any remaining excess forces will be considered to be those employees of least seniority in the title classification affected at the reporting location determined to have surplus. These employees shall be offered opportunities for bumping as prescribed in this Article 19.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. The Employer has the right to transfer the employees in lieu of layoff in order to preserve the employees' employment with the Employer subject to the provisions of this Agreement. The District will notify the Union prior to any transfer in lieu of layoff.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. The City shall have the right to transfer rather than layoff when operations are curtailed.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. In case the employee's services are not assigned or scheduled by the District in his/her regular class of employment, the District may, instead of laying him/her off, transfer him/her to another job which is vacant and pay him/her the regular rate for that position, provided further that if the employee does not choose to accept the lesser paying position, said employee shall be laid off.

A regular employee who is scheduled for layoff may be offered, in lieu of layoff, a voluntary reduction in classification to a lower level job classification in the employee’s occupational group, provided he or she meets the minimum qualifications, can attain proficiency in the position through a short orientation or familiarization period, and has greater seniority than the occupant (if any) of the position in the lower class.
22.6.1 Such reductions in classification shall be only within the same occupational groups. Occupational groups shall be defined and established in Appendix A to this Contract.
Transfer in Lieu of Layoff. In order to avoid laying off an employee in a classification in which a work shortage exists, Management may, with Union concurrence, transfer an employee where work is available but no actual vacancy exists.
