Tools and Resources. To strengthen our understanding of how people use LMG tools and the effectiveness or staying power of these, we conducted an assessment of two tools developed by MSH, focusing on the Leadership Development Program (LDP) and Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT) implementation in Kenya, Nepal, and South Africa. This external assessment included a series of interviews to ascer- tain the continued use of leadership and management tools, the benefits of using these tools, and consequent results for various stakeholders. The study was designed to assess the sustainability of the selected interventions and associated processes by way of continuing or institutionalizing the tool. Over the years, we have realized the importance of coaching to help sustain some of the momentum from what people learn in our programs. To make this available as a resource, we developed a coaching and communication workshop to improve the capacity of facilitators to guide participants through leadership and management–focused tools. This was delivered to 18 managers, supervisors, and facilitators with coaching roles in their organizations, several of whom used this workshop to identify opportunities to improve family planning services in their workplaces through strengthened coaching and communication. In PY5, the LMG Project will continue to collect feedback from participants from the coaching workshop and make final changes to the program based on this feedback. The program will then be translated into French and hosted on XxxxxxXxx.xxx. In an effort to ensure easy external access to a broad variety of leadership, management, and governance tools, we pack- aged a selection of MSH’s and the LMG Project’s most-used tools and resources into an interactive site on XxxxxxXxx.xxx. Our technical experts reviewed all relevant L+M+G tools, articles, and books against a set of criteria to ensure the most relevant tools were included on the L+M+G Global Resource Center section on XxxxxxXxx.xxx. The criteria included that the resources be technically relevant, free, easy to use with- out facilitation, and applicable to an external audience. To ensure a seamless user experience, the LMG Project devel- oped an intuitive and jargon-free taxonomy for the site, as well as a search tool that enables users to find tools based on challenges they may be experiencing in the workplace. The site was formally launched October 13, 2015. In PY5, we will continue to add to the site and promote its use....

Tools and Resources. All the participants in the Mexican protected area gap analysis agreed to share all available information and data, including biodiversity data, geographical databases at different scales, regional conservation action plans, prioritization exercises for conservation of species and ecosystems and other outputs generated in the last few years. Clearly, CONABIO datasets constitute the major source of information for this analysis, considering its 4.3 million geo- referenced records about flora and fauna, its dozens of studies on biodiversity throughout the country and its extensive multi-scale geographical databases. Complementing these data were those of the local and international NGOs who also had extensive datasets that could provide very valuable information on specific taxa, regions and ecosystems that will be considered. Fortunately, CONABIO had previously developed several prioritization exercises to determine the terrestrial, freshwater and marine priority regions for the conservation of Mexican biodiversity. These were considered as a first approximation to the areas and sites of the highest importance for biodiversity conservation in Mexico. Several essential information sources, such as the new geographical datasets on vegetation and land use in Mexico at at a country-wide scale, were identified as major inputs to be used in the gap analysis. Conservation International will be providing important geographical datasets used to identify Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) for northern Mesoamerica and the Gulf of California, and The Nature Conservancy has supported eco- regional planning efforts that produced important inputs in ecoregions across vast swaths of the country. Defining scopes of work and methods: To date, several types of information analysis, ranging from procedures to technical tools, have been discussed as possible inputs to the gap analysis and these are currently under consideration by the participants. Probably a first general analysis to perform will be on the current protected areas’ distribution and coverage in the context of the ecosystems for every eco-region, in order to define the representativeness of the existing PA network in Mexico. A similar analysis developed for Colombia5 has been of inspiration in designing this first approach. Identification of focal biodiversity: A preliminary set of focal biodiversity for the gap analysis, which included terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems, was defined, given the criteria sugg...

As part of its PEPFAR portfolio, the LMG Project developed and disseminated tools, resources, and research findings on orphans and vulnerable children (OVC); it also finalized planning and project-management tools, including the PEPFAR dashboard and the HIV/AIDS Provincial Planning Simulator (HAPPS) tool. The latest research findings and tools are vital for ensuring that PLHIV have access to high-quality HIV and AIDS services and information. In PY6, the LMG Project will consolidate learning to date about the tools and resources developed with PEPFAR support. We will disseminate the PEPFAR dashboard tool and explore venues for dissemination of the HAPPS tool, which was originally developed for Vietnam. This dissemination will include an event to highlight tools developed to increase knowledge of approaches and advance discussion of leadership and governance on HIV and AIDS. Network Strengthening Program (NSP) The NSP is a new capacity-building program tailored to address common challenges faced by networks so they are more effective at meeting the needs of their members. The LMG Project began developing this in PY4, and the content of the program is focused around five distinct challenge areas: ■ Membership relations and management; benefits to members MANASO members conducting a network mapping activity as part of the LMG Project’s Network Strengthening Program. Photo: MSH ■ Financial sustainability ■ Governance ■ Both internal and external communicationsLeadership and management capacity In PY5, the NSP was piloted with two networks in Malawi: (1) MANET+ (a network of people living with HIV [PLHIV] in Malawi); and (2) the Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organizations (MANASO), a network of HIV service organizations. The NSP consists of three workshops and ongoing coaching in between.Throughout the course of the program, the networks develop action plans around the topics above, as well as a final network strengthening action plan. In May, the two networks presented their NSP results to over 50 stakeholders, including UNAIDs, the National AIDS Commission, USAID, and government officials. XXXXX+ emphasized their work on their resource mobilization strategy and their recent selection as a Global Fund sub-recipient. XXXXXX’s presentation highlighted their efforts to align their mem...
