THE NWMB’s ALLOCATION POLICY FOR COMMERCIAL MARINE FISHERIES. Notwithstanding the above challenges, the NWMB has managed to develop – in close collaboration with DFO, NTI and the Nunavut commercial fishing industry – a highly successful Allocation Policy for Commercial Marine Fisheries. As a result, Nunavut occupies a leading edge position in terms of contemporary Canadian fisheries policy. The considerable success achieved by the Allocation Policy is directly attributable to the ongoing commitment by both managers and industry to the following objective: It is with that objective in mind that the NWMB raises the concerns set out in this submission, and makes the recommendations which follow therefrom.
