The Classification System. The parties have agreed to retain the job classification system as shown in Appendix A. This system assigns a grade to every job within the bargaining unit and provides minimum and maximum rates for each such job. A. For each year of the Agreement, the minimum salary range for each grade shall increase by 3.5% on 5/1/06, 5/1/07, and 5/1/08. The maximums will increase by 3.5% on 5/1/06, 5/1/07, and 5/1/08. These rates shall remain applicable for the duration of the Agreement unless modified by mutual agreement.

The Classification System. The Human Resources Department will administer classification system(s) according to the following criteria: A. The job classification evaluation process will be based upon professionally developed standards equally applied to all positions without bias. Job classes are established to group positions that have identical or similar primary duties. Within each classification, the nature of the work is significantly different form other job classes. B. Positions will be classified based upon their job-related contributions and/or assessed value to the District’s functions. C. New positions are evaluated and placed into job classes based upon a comparison of the similarity of the assigned duties to other positions in the job class. New positions will be placed into existing job classes unless the duties or conditions of employment are found to be substantially different from other existing classes in the classified service. D. The Human Resources Department will maintain appropriate records relating to classification studies and actions, and will maintain a written class specification for each job class in the classified service describing typical duties and responsibilities of positions in the job class.

Effective 5/1/11, salary ranges will be adjusted as follows: (a) increase all minimums by 2%; (b) decrease grade 6 maximum by 3 .5%; (c) increase grade 7 maximum by 3%; (d) increase grade 8 maximum to $1,395 per week . For each year of the Agreement, the minimum salary range for each grade shall increase by 3 .5% on 5/1/11, 5/1/12, and 5/1/13; and increased by 3 .0% on 5/1/14 and 5/1/15 . The maximums will increase by 3 .5% on 5/1/11, 5/1/12, 5/1/13, 5/1/14 and 5/1/15 . These rates shall remain applicable for the duration of the Agreement unless modified by mutual agreement . B . Across-the-board salary increases required by this Agreement shall be applied first on the date specified by each of these Appendices . If this amount is insufficient to place the employee at the newly established minimum for his/her classification, the employee’s salary shall be increased immediately to that level .
