Temporary Assignment to a Vacant Position. When an employee is assigned to work for a limited time (not to exceed 960 hours in a fiscal year) to a vacant regular or appointive position in a higher classification, pending the completion of the normal selection process to fill the position, the employee shall be temporarily promoted, given a Provisional Appointment, and paid according to existing established rules in accordance with provisions of Section 7.4.4 below.
