Supported Decision Sample Clauses

The Supported Decision clause establishes a framework for individuals to make their own decisions with assistance, rather than having decisions made on their behalf. In practice, this clause allows a person to appoint one or more supporters who can help them understand information, consider options, and communicate their choices, while the individual retains ultimate authority over the final decision. This approach promotes autonomy and self-determination, ensuring that people receive the help they need to make informed choices without losing their legal rights or independence.
Supported Decision. Making: a set of strategies that help individuals understand their options when making choices and communicating their own decisions through the use of an agreement designed to help the person interact and communicate their decisions with third parties. The agreement will include a list of decisions the person wants assistance in making and identifies a supporter(s) they want to help them, as detailed and defined in Wis. Stat. Ch. 52.
