STEPCHILD. Child born to or adopted by the spouse or domestic partner of a policyholder, whom the policyholder has not legally adopted. TERMINAL CONDITION: An active, progressive, and irreversible illness or condition that, without life-sustaining procedures, will result in death in the near future, or a state of permanent uncon- sciousness from which recovery is unlikely.
