Common use of Step I - Informal Clause in Contracts

Step I - Informal. If an employee believes there is a basis for a grievance, he/she must first discuss the matter with his/her immediate supervisor in an effort to resolve the problem informally. A written grievance may be submitted directly to the administrator who has the authority to resolve such grievance within thirty (30) days of the event giving rise to the grievance or the date on which the grievant should reasonably have known about the event giving rise to the grievance, and the processing of such grievance shall commence either at Step II or Step III. (See Appendix F for Employee Grievance Form).
