Stagecoach. We would be looking for: • Bus stops located so that all properties in the development are within 400 metres walking distance • Decent quality walking routes to and from the bus stops (via hard surfaced pathways with street lighting) • Bus stops to be fully disabled accessible - this requires kerb heights of 160mm, space to manoeuvre a wheelchair, and the means of accessing the bus stop in a wheelchair • Parking restrictions to prohibit parking of vehicles other than buses at the bus stop, to ensure that buses can reach the raised kerb for passengers to board or alight in safety. In practical terms this requires a 31 metre long bus stop clearway, which inevitably means sacrificing some on street parking provision. It is sometimes possible to use a clearway of shorter length if other road features (eg zig zag markings on pedestrian crossings, or side street junctions) provided the necessary unobstructed approach or exit. Sometimes a buildout can be used for the bus stop if sufficient carriageway width is available - use of buildouts minimise the loss of on street parking space • Shelters at all bus stops where they can be physically accommodated. We are particularly keen to secure a bus stop in Dymchurch Road, between Station Road and the Sainsbury's roundabout. We provide a 15 minute frequency between Dover and New Romney, with 2 buses per hour running to/from Lydd-on- Sea via Station Road, and 2 buses per hour running to/from Lydd Camp via High Street. There is currently no common stop in the Folkestone/Dover direction, so intending passengers have to choose whether to wait in the High Street or Station Road, and do not get the full benefit of the 15 minute "turn up and go" frequency.
