Common use of Staff Nurse Clause in Contracts

Staff Nurse. A registered nurse who is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the patient. An experienced registered nurse returning to practice who has recently and satisfactorily completed a nursing refresher course approved by the Employer shall be classified as a staff nurse for starting pay purposes. The parties acknowledge that the professional staff nurse is responsible for determining to whom to delegate a task, based on patient assessment. As provided for in the Nurse Practice Act (RCW 18.88), a nurse may only delegate a task (including medication administration) to unlicensed personnel in situations where it can be performed safely and competently.
