Split Shift Assignments. A split shift is defined as a work day in which a unit member is required to have an interruption in the unit member’s hours of work other than the unit member’s daily 30-minute lunch. No unit member shall be required to work a split shift except by mutual agreement in writing between the unit member, Executive Director, and Union. A unit member who works a split shift shall be paid a split-shift premium of one (1) hour of pay for the day at the unit member’s hourly rate.
Split Shift Assignments. The District shall make every attempt to eliminate split shift assignments. When split shifts are found to be necessary to the educational program, split shifts of one hour or less down time shall be paid at the appropriate regular or overtime rate. Unpaid lunch periods cannot be scheduled to avoid paying the split shift of one hour or less.
Split Shift Assignments. 8.11.1 Whenever an employee is assigned to split shifts within the same classification within the same working day, the employee may be, based on employee’s discretion, compensated for this time between split-shifts within the same classification if this time is one (1) hour or less. 8.11.2 If the time between split-shifts within the same classification within the same working day is more than one (1) hour, the employee shall not be compensated for this time.
