Special Education Classes, Education and Training, and Representation. ‌ 1. Any K-6 non-special education classroom teacher who has a student with at least one paraprofessional assigned in their classroom for either part of the day or the whole day will be compensated using the following schedule: Whole day = 6.5 hours grades K-4; Whole day = 6.75 hours grades 5-6 Monthly teacher stipend for student instructional time of .5 to 3.5 hours August - $50, September –May - $85 Monthly teacher stipend for student instructional time of 3.5 to 6.5 hours August - $100, September-May - $150 2. At the beginning of the school year, a meeting will be set to establish the hours a student assigned with a para will be in the classroom to determine stipend amount and to discuss the pilot so the best teaching and learning environment for the student and teacher in the particular classroom are prioritized. (i.e. classroom space, accommodating furniture, specialized training needs, etc…) This meeting will include administration, an OCFT representative, and the classroom teacher. The goals for the year will be communicated at this meeting. The original stipend determination or subsequent changes will be communicated to the Treasurer’s office by the building administrator for salary notification purposes. 3. Recognizing that there are many variables involved with determining classroom rosters, every consideration will be made to keep a classroom with a one-on-one para at the fewest number of students at that grade level or subject whenever possible.
