Special Classes. 12.06.1 The class size in special subjects in high schools, such as, laboratory and industrial arts courses will be determined by the Building Principal. The class size for vocational classes shall not exceed state standards where applicable.
12.06.2 In each elementary school, the pupil load for chorus and band shall be determined by the Building Principal after consultation with the chorus and/or band director.
Special Classes. Unit employees required to attend any training or required classes after their initial hiring date shall be compensated for such hours of classes required and reimbursed for any and all fees.
14.18.1 The District shall train unit employees in the safe and proper use of equipment, materials, and/or chemicals that they are required to use.
14.18.2 If a unit employee is required by the District to attend a class, the District shall reimburse the employee for any required textbooks and any other required costs mandated by the class. Proof of expenditure and necessity of such expenditure must be provided in writing to the District prior to reimbursement. Prior to taking the required class, the employee shall secure necessary signatures on the appropriate District form. Forms may be picked up at the Human Resources Office.
Special Classes. Other teachers teaching additional special classes or conducting District-wide responsibilities will receive salary increases according to the extra time required or special skills utilized as determined by the Board.
Special Classes. 12.3.1 The maximum class size of special day classes shall be 14. Exceptions to the class size maximum may be permitted under the following circumstances
a. After MEA notification and with teacher agreement, class size may be increased by one (1) student for no more than sixty (60) school days. During the period of student placement, the District will provide an additional assistant or other assistance per mutual agreement.
12.3.2 The Resource Specialist Program and the Designated Instructional Services/ Speech Program shall be maintained at the case load levels established in State law. The District and the Association agrees to establish a committee to review and modify the guidelines for speech services as needed.
12.3.3 Any subsequent legislation passed into law dealing with class size and/or the establishment of new special day classes shall supersede this Agreement.

1) Additional students may be placed with variances, pursuant to Commissioner’s Regulations §200.6.
2) In all cases, the size and composition of a class shall be based on the similarity of the individual needs of the students as specified in Commissioner’s Regulations §200.6.
3) Other limits and specifications shall be listed consistent with New York State Education Department current maximums.
