The SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS clause defines the rules and conditions under which employees are compensated for working shifts outside of standard business hours. SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS. Two Methods of Payment - Employees who do not have a shift work component incorporated into their rate of pay as provided for at clause 27.2 (Annualised Rate Driver Coordinator) or clause 27.4 (Team Leader ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇) and are required to work shift work as part of their ordinary hours shall be paid in accordance with one of the following methods:
SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS. Employees who do not have a shift work component incorporated into their rate of pay as provided for at clause 20, Rates of Pay or clause 25, Team Leader Total Roster Aggregate, and who are required to work shift work as part of their ordinary hours shall be paid in accordance with one of the following methods: 22.1 Employees who have all or part of their ordinary hours systematically rostered between 1800 hours and 0600 hours will be paid an annualised shift work payment to compensate for this requirement. 22.2 The annualised shift work payment shall be paid for all purposes including the clearance of paid leave. 22.3 The annualised shift work payment shall be calculated from the master roster in accordance with the following steps: Step 1 the rostered ordinary hours between 1800 and 0600 hours on each day of the week are totalled; Step 2 the Step 1 result is divided by the number of working slots on the roster; Step 3 the Step 2 result is divided by the number of weeks in the roster cycle to arrive at the average shift work hours per working slot per week; Step 4 the Step 3 result is annualised by apply the Annualising Factor of 88%; 22.4 The per week amount at Step 5 is multiplied by 2 to arrive at the fortnightly amount then multiplied by 313 and divided by 12 to arrive at the annual amount. 22.5 In the event that the master roster is permanently altered, which results in a variation to the Step 1 shift work hours total by a factor of plus or minus 5% or more, Aurizon will vary the payment to take account of the roster changes. 22.6 Aurizon shall provide a minimum of two weeks’ notice in any case where the payment will decrease.

SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS. Saturday / Sunday payments calculated under a similar system to the Annualised Shift Work Payment in clause 22, Shift Work Payments, but at Step 5 apply 0.7 of the ordinary hourly rate in lieu of the shift work rate; Rostered Additional Hours calculated under a similar system to the Annualised Shift Work Payment in clause 22, Shift Work Payments but at Step 5 apply 1.7 times the ordinary hourly rate in lieu of the shift work rate; Public Holiday Buy Out at the rate of 3.85% of the relevant annual rate specified in subclause 20.1 Rates of Pay, per annum.
SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS. 24.1 Employees who work a shift where 4 hours or more of that shift are between 1800 hours and 0600 hours will be paid an allowance of 25% of the employee’s ordinary rate of pay for all hours worked in that shift. 24.2 Where an employee works a shift where less than 4 hours of the shift are between 1800 hours and 0600 hours, then only the hours worked between 1800 hours and 0600 will attract the allowance of 25% of the ordinary rate of pay. 24.3 Work performed by an employee in excess of the rostered ordinary hours of the employee’s shift will attract the applicable overtime payment in lieu of the shift work allowance.

SHIFT WORK PAYMENTS. ‌ 31.1. An employee who is required to carry out occasional shift work at ordinary rates will be paid an allowance of 20% of the ordinary rate of pay for all ordinary hours worked between 1800 and 0600 hours. 31.2. It is accepted that the occasional nature of shift work requirements under this agreement and the payment of the above percentage based amount is in lieu for any claim to additional annual leave that might otherwise apply for regular shift workers.
