Shift Preferences. Two weeks prior to the posting of a new schedule of shift assignments, employees may request shift assignment based on seniority. The Sheriff will consider the preferences of staff along with the needs of the Sheriff’s Office and the qualifications of individual employees when preparing the new schedule. If an employee is assigned to the same shift for a third or successive shift change, the employee may request that the Sheriff provide reasons for the shift assignment. The Sheriff will respond prior to the implementation of the next shift schedule. An employee will receive seven (7) days’ notice of a schedule change during a posted shift schedule.

Shift Preferences. Seniority shall determine shift preference, subject only to ability to perform the job required. Should any dispute arise in the interpretation of this section, the matter shall be referred to the Labour Management Committee in accordance with Article 8.3.

Once shift assignments are made for any given year, the supervisor shall have the right to transfer Employees to shifts other than the shifts to which they were initially assigned for reasons having to do with the operational needs of the respective Department, such as but not limited to the need for qualified Employees to fill permanent assignments, seniority imbalances among shifts, and the need for closer supervision of Employees with performance problems. An Employee shall be given as much advance notice as practicable before being transferred and shall not be transferred for arbitrary, capricious or discriminatory reasons.
Shift Preferences. When vacancies on preferred shifts and in the same work unit open, requests may be entered by staff members in the same classification as the vacancy. Such requests shall be given preferential treatment prior to job bidding in the staff member's order of seniority whenever the requirements of proper patient care permits.

Shift Preferences. An employee who successfully bids for a job posting, must work on the where the vacancy appears. The employee must remain on that shift for one year. During this period of time, they have the option of applying for any other job posting within the plant. After one year, the employee has the option of bumping less senior employees with the same job posting. If an employee is laid off their regular job on their shift, they have the option of bumping to another shift or choosing a lay-off day providing the needs of the business are satisfied.
Shift Preferences. Sergeants may submit shift assignment preferences for the following year by submitting such preferences in writing to the Police Chief or his designee before November 1 of the year preceding the year in which such assignments are to be effective. A Sergeant shall be given as much advance notice as practical before being transferred and shall not be transferred for arbitrary, capricious, or discriminatory reasons.
Shift Preferences. A. The Employer will provide a permanent day shift for each nursing inpatient unit, Care Initiation Unit (CIU/SSU), Emergency Department, Med Flight, Radiology Nursing, Nursing Operations Support/Inpatient Float, Access Center and three (3) permanent day shifts for Operative Services for the term of this Agreement. Bargaining Unit seniority (as defined by Article IX § 1(B)(3)) of employees in the unit will be used for the purpose of determining permanent day shift preferences.
