Common use of Section 4 – Educational Leave Clause in Contracts

Section 4 – Educational Leave. After completing one (1) year of service a nurse, upon 1 request, may be granted a leave of absence without pay for educational purposes at an 2 accredited school when it is related to employment. The period of such leave of 3 absence shall not exceed one (1) year but it may be renewed or extended, when 4 necessary, at the request of the nurse and upon authorization by the Hospital. One (1) 5 year's leave of absence with any requested extension for education purposes may not 6 be provided more than once in any three-year period. Seniority credit and benefit 7 accrual, including hours toward step increase, will not build during leave of absence, as 8 per Article 7, Section 2.
