Safer Medical Devices. The Employer will continue to obtain and distribute, at no cost to the employee products and equipment which promote a healthy and safe work environment, particularly products and equipment to prevent body fluid exposures to Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), including safer medical devices that reduce or eliminate needlestick injuries by providing a barrier between the needle and the employee. The Employer and affected employees shall also evaluate medical nursing procedures to determine which procedures can be performed without needles in a reasonable and safe manner and shall provide needless alternatives for such procedures. Cost shall not be the primary factor in determining the use of safer medical devices.
