Common use of Retainers Clause in Contracts

Retainers. 15.1 Every Player who is retained pursuant to a Sevens Contract or Sevens Training Contract shall be entitled to receive a Retainer in accordance with this clause and her Sevens Contract or Sevens Training Contract. 15.2 A Retainer is an amount of money which is paid by the NZRU to a Player in relation to a Contract Year in consideration of the provision of her Services during the Contract Year. The Player Retainer is payable by the NZRU irrespective of whether the Player is selected for the Team or whether she is unable to play Rugby due to suspension, illness, injury or other genuine unavailability. 15.3 At the same time as contracting Players pursuant to a Sevens Contract or Sevens Training Contract, the NZRU will offer each Player a Retainer.
