The 'Reduction in Time' clause allows for the adjustment of previously agreed project timelines, typically shortening the duration allocated for certain tasks or the overall completion date. In practice, this clause may be invoked when work progresses faster than expected, or when both parties agree to accelerate the schedule, often in exchange for additional compensation or incentives. Its core function is to provide a formal mechanism for modifying deadlines, ensuring that changes to the project timeline are managed transparently and with mutual consent, thereby reducing the risk of disputes over schedule expectations.
REDUCTION IN TIME. If the Department deletes any portion of the work, an appropriate reduction of contract time may be made in accordance with Section 4.2, CHANGES.

15.9.3 Permanent employees who have had their assigned positions reduced in time due to lack of work, lack of funds, or in the interest of economy shall be considered “laid off” and shall be offered the first vacant position which has the same number of hours and months as their previous assignment prior to the cut. Regular layoff procedures shall be followed.
