Qualifications and Application. To be eligible for a Leave, an Employee must have at least three (3) years of continuous employment with the Thames Valley District School Board or any of the predecessor Boards. Application for a Leave shall be made to the Supervisor who shall forward such application to the Department Superintendent over that area, who shall submit the application to the Manager, Human Resource Services three (3) months prior to the start of the elected Plan. The application form shall set out the period in which the Plan is to be effected and the time period in which the Employee requests the leave position. Applications shall be considered by Human Resource Services. It is understood that the granting of a Leave to an Employee is the sole responsibility of the Employer and such a leave will only be granted on the basis that: there will be no financial impositions to the Employer it will not create additional work for other Employees; the Employee can be replaced by a casual with no resulting training costs to the Employer there will be no reduction of service to the students, staff or the community; all or part of the position may be kept vacant for the duration of the leave; the Employee must return to work for the Employer or with an Employer that participates in the same or similar arrangement upon completion of the leave for a period of time not less than the duration of the Leave of Absence (as stipulated by Canada Revenue Agency). Written acceptance or denial of the Employee’s request will be forwarded to the Employee at least two (2) months prior to participation in the plan.
Qualifications and Application. In order to be considered for a sabbatical leave, applicants must: 1. Complete a total of seven (7) years of teaching experience in the district. 2. Submit a request for sabbatical leave for the ensuing school year to the Superintendent in writing prior to February.
