Common use of Professional Learning/Curriculum Development Clause in Contracts

Professional Learning/Curriculum Development. The OEA recognizes that two additional days for work on curriculum or district-wide initiatives were not utilized at the secondary level during the 2019-2020 school year. The district will retain the right to utilize these days prior to the expiration of this contract according to the provisions below. Failure to utilize these days during the term of this contract will constitute permanent forfeiture of these days. These days will be scheduled for work on curriculum and/or used for pertinent professional learning and will be paid at a rate of one-hundred ($100.00) per day. These days will only be scheduled during the week prior to the first teacher work week of the school year or the week after the final work week in June. Every effort will be made to schedule these days within the first two or three business days before the start of the school year (in August) or the first two or three business days after the last day of school (in June). Notification of the dates for these days will be provided as soon as possible, but no later than January 1 of the year in which the days will be scheduled (either in June or August).
