Professional Hours. Bargaining unit members may log additional hours that are outside of their contracted or supplemental hours. These hours must be educationally oriented, course specific, or activities linked to teacher responsibilities outside of the school day. These hours are not paid hours, supplemental contracted hours, or hours that are being required for course work. These hours can accumulate towards the final work day at the end of the year, but cannot exceed a half day (3.5 hours). Events and hours must be preapproved by Administration prior to the last work day. MLK Day and Presidents’ Day hours can be included on the log as well. Each teacher must have his/her Professional Hours Log signed by principal to verify approval.
Professional Hours. The Board and the Association recognize that teaching has many responsibilities that demand bargaining unit members' time over and above the instructional day. These responsibilities include, by way of illustration, but not by way of limitation, attending faculty meetings and IEPC's; conducting student and parent conferences; preparing for effective teaching; evaluating student performance and progress; working on committees and committee assignments; correcting and evaluating student papers and themes; developing instructional materials; professional reading and study, and advanced college study. Therefore, the normal day for bargaining unit members shall be considered to be those hours required by the instructional day as well as the hours required to perform their other professional responsibilities, which will include by way of illustration, arriving on site ten (10) minutes before the start of school and remaining ten (10) minutes after students are dismissed, performing professional duties. The ten (10) minutes before and after school illustration is not intended for non-instructional days. 1. Part-time bargaining unit members shall have those hours that are stipulated by the Board at the time they are hired. a. Part-time bargaining unit members shall attend parent/teacher conferences and professional development days scheduled on the calendar with no additional compensation. The responsibility for instruction on said days will be rotated or otherwise shared equally between bargaining unit members sharing a single assignment, if those days are half days of instruction. b. Part-time bargaining unit members who are directed to attend professional development activities which are beyond the part-time bargaining unit member's normal hours of work and beyond those scheduled in the district calendar shall be compensated at the rate of forty dollars ($40.00) per one-half day at elementary, and fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour at secondary. 2. Planning time is subject to the following provisions: a. The teacher’s individual planning period is intended as a time when bargaining unit members are to be available in the buildings for calls from parents, conferences with parents or students, etc., and professional development in consensus with affected HEA members. b. Professional Hours. 96 The parties recognize the professional nature of the work performed by the employees covered by this Agreement. While each full-time employee will be scheduled to work eighty (80) hours on a bi-weekly pay period, the actual daily and weekly work schedule may vary due to time requirements of specific assignments and seasonal variations in clinic workload. All staff are entitled to build into their schedule an unpaid meal period. Employees will be scheduled to have at least two (2) consecutive days off during the eighty (80) hour bi-weekly pay period. The scheduling of hours during the week shall be established by the Chief of Service. When consistent with the operations of the clinic, the employer will make every effort to grant flexible schedules requested by staff, to be authorized by the Chief or his/her/their designee. 97 An employee shall be informed at her/his time of hire as to her/his work schedule. It is understood that such schedule is subject to change in the interest of efficient operations. Due to the professional nature of the work, it is recognized that schedules may vary from the normal workweek, however, employees are expected to work the number of hours regularly scheduled in a bi-weekly pay period.
Professional Hours. A. The teachers’ professional day shall be considered as those hours and activities required to perform their professional duties as they occur before, during, and/or after the student day. Normally, the teachers’ responsibility for being in their assigned building(s) shall not exceed thirty-one (31) hours a week. It is recognized by the Association that each teacher is expected to be punctual and regular in attendance for all assignments indicated in this Article. B. Teachers shall be present in their assigned buildings before, during, or after the student day at times scheduled for student contact, other scheduled student activities, office hours, consulting, advising, counseling, meeting with parents, consultants and other resource personnel, and team planning. No teacher shall be required to accept a regular schedule which allows for an uninterrupted lunch period of less than twenty-five (25) minutes. Lunch periods shall be scheduled within the period from thirty (30) minutes before the beginning to thirty (30) minutes after the end of the student lunch period unless agreed otherwise between the teacher and administration. No teacher shall be required to perform any breakfast, lunch, or food supervision duties. 1. Teachers who elect to leave their assigned building during their unscheduled hours shall give proper notice to the school office before their departure and immediately upon their return. 2. Teachers will be in their assigned building ten (10) minutes prior to their initial daily assignment and ten (10) minutes after their culminating assignment of the day. Teachers will be punctual and in all cases involving student groups will arrive appropriately before and depart appropriately after the students. 3. All teachers agree to attend IEP Team meetings, open house/curriculum night, parent/teacher conferences, and parent meetings. In all but emergency situations, teachers are to receive no less than seventy-two (72) hours notice of meetings. 4. At all levels, Tuesdays will be reserved for building staff meetings. Except in emergencies, no more than four (4) hours per month will be scheduled for these meetings. For months when parent conferences are scheduled the number of hours will be limited to two (2) hours. Professional Hours. The teachers’ regular workday is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Fridays and the last pupil attendance day preceding a holiday or long weekend, the Board agrees that the teachers’ regular workday ends after students have been dismissed and departed the premises. Discretionary approval to end the regular workday following the dismissal of students on other days may be granted by the building principal. The current practice of allowing teachers to leave to attend to personal business once the students have been dismissed and departed will continue. Teachers shall have the option of adjusting the start and end times for their workday with the approval of the building principal. Denial of such requests will not be arbitrary or capricious. Occasionally, circumstances arise which require a teacher to leave school during these hours. If necessary to support staff meetings, curriculum days, teacher institutes, and school improvement days, teachers will forego their flexible hours. Teacher Institute Hours When a Teacher Institute Day is held on the last day of school, teachers shall work 5 clock hours. On all other Teacher Institute Days, teachers shall work a normal workday as set forth in Article VI Section J of this Agreement.
Professional Hours. On any given day, employees are expected to be in attendance at the school at least 30 minutes before the school day commences and 15 minutes after the school day finishes, plus attend other calendar events at the school from time to time. The school shall give reasonable notice of such requirements. This does not include reasonable co-curricular or extra-curricular expectations as included in the staff calendar (see Clause 12.5) and released at the commencement of each term. The maximum teaching load for a full-time teacher shall be 1280 minutes per week (excluding pastoral care time). The inclusion of pastoral care time within the maximum teaching load calculations will be implemented in 2024.

All staff may build into their schedule an off-duty meal period. The scheduling of hours during the week shall be established by management or their designee. When consistent with the needs of the department, flexible schedules requested by staff may be authorized by management or their designee. 134 An employee shall be informed at time of hire as to her/his work schedule. It is understood that such schedule is subject to change in the interest of efficient operations. Due to the professional nature of the work, it is recognized that schedules may vary from the normal workweek, however, employees are expected to work the number of hours regularly scheduled each week. 135 If, in the interest of efficient operations, it becomes necessary to change or establish schedules departing from the normal department operating schedules, and if such change is intended to last longer than three (3) months, the Employer shall notify the Union of said change. If so requested, the Employer shall meet and confer with the Union and attempt to reach mutually satisfactory schedules. In such instances, and where possible, the Employer will consider the preferences of the concerned employees, however, it is understood that the right to establish such schedules rests with management or their designee. 136 When an employee’s regular schedule or starting time is changed, the employee shall be advised as far in advance as possible. In such instances, and where feasible, seniority and employee preferences will be considered.
Professional Hours. (a) Staff should reasonably expect to be at their school of employment for an eight hour day (including lunch) beginning at a time indicated by the school. (b) There will be occasions in which a staff member will be required to remain at the school for longer periods than normal. The school shall give reasonable notice of such requirements.
