Common use of Professional Development Allocation Clause in Contracts

Professional Development Allocation. The Board will receive, in 2008-09, a one-time projected allocation of $737,178 for professional development and training for support workers. The proportionate share of money for CUPE Local 1483 as provided by the Ministry of Education (approximately $247,000 based on 2006-07 Financial Statements) will be used to support the professional development of CUPE Local 1483 members in 2008-2009 and/or 2009-10. The Board will share the final calculations of this allocation with the Union, which is to be based on the 2008-09 Revised Estimates. It is understood that the total amount used for professional development activities for members of CUPE Local 1483 shall not exceed the Union’s proportionate share of the fund provided by the Ministry of Education. The parties agree that an Ad Hoc Committee comprised of three (3) representatives of the Union and three (3) representatives of the Employer plus appropriate resources, will meet to discuss professional development activities for members of CUPE Local 1483, no later than sixty (60) days following the date of ratification. The Ad Hoc Committee will be responsible for reviewing and determining the professional development and training that is in support of the Board’s goals and directions for CUPE Local 1483 members for this one-time allocation, and report their decisions to the Superintendent of Human Resources.

The Board will share the final calculations of this allocation with the Union, which is to be based on the 2008-09 2008 – 2009 Revised Estimates. It is understood that the total amount used for professional development activities for members of CUPE Local 1483 2026 shall not exceed the Union’s proportionate share of the fund provided by the Ministry of Education.
