Common use of Probationary Appointment Clause in Contracts

Probationary Appointment. All persons appointed to fill a vacancy or a newly created administrative staff position shall be given a probationary appointment. The probationary period for all individuals appointed on or after Sept 1, 1995 shall be a minimum of three years and may be extended to a maximum of five years, served in three to five consecutive one-year terms. Staff who begin work on or after September 1 and prior to March 1 of any fiscal year will be considered to have credit for their first year of probationary appointment. Staff who begin work on or after March 1 will have a first year of probation that ends on August 31 of the following fiscal year. Persons who have served the College in a temporary appointment may have the number of years served in a temporary appointment count toward their probationary period in their new appointment to a regular position.
