Pre-Placement Preparation. The Medical School shall inform the Practice of Student allocations, dates of attachments, learning materials, learning outcomes, workplace-based assessments and other curriculum or management information deemed necessary to meet the education, training, and assessment requirements for each Placement; shall ensure that Students are informed of the professional standards required of them and the penalties for failing to comply; shall carry out Disclosure and Barring Service checks5 and Occupational Health screening required prior to patient contact; and shall liaise with the Practice in the event of concerns about a Student’s safety, wellbeing or fitness to practise as set out in the University’s Policies and Regulations6. Prior to commencement and during a Placement, the Medical School shall: 2.2.1 Ensure that every Student is monitored according to the Medical School’s

The Medical School’s Close Supervision policy has provision for information to be shared via the Medical School’s Divisional Tutor to the University Director of Undergraduate Medical Education (Primary Care and Community) to GP Tutors. Notification of Fitness to Practise issues is made in accordance with the Medical School’s Fitness to Practise policy and the provisions of the Data Protection Laws. A decision to share personal information relating to fitness to practise concerns will be made on a case-by-case basis and the Student will be informed of the decision.
