Placement in Salary Range upon Harmonization. Placement in the salary range shall be at the step closest to but not less than the employee’s rate of pay on harmonization day. Where an employee’s salary rate exceeds the maximum of the range for his classification level in the new rate structure, he/she shall maintain his/her existing rate of pay (i.e. be red circled) as long as the employee remains within the position held at the date of signing of the collective agreement and until such time as the rate of pay in the new salary schedule for the position he/she holds becomes equal to or higher than his/her existing rate of pay.
