Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing. The process of removing or eliminating etiologic agents (dental plaque, its products, and calculus) which cause inflammation, and help to maintain disease-free the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Policy Year – The period of time which starts on the Effective Date of this Contract, as stated in the Schedule of Dental Benefits, and ends at 11:59 PM (CDT) of the day before 12 months from the Effective Date.
