Common use of Payment for Zero Clause in Contracts

Payment for Zero. Hour or In-Lieu of Plan Time Zero periods contracts shall be issued when an employee agrees to teach an additional class period beyond the contractual workday. Payment for a zero-hour or an in-lieu of planning period contract at the secondary level shall be at one-fifth (1/5) or .20 FTE of the employee’s full-time annualized salary amount, prorated for the time the services are performed (i.e. daily, by trimester, semester, or the full year). Payment for an in-lieu of planning period for elementary specialists (i.e. physical education, music or library employees) shall be made at one thirty-fourth (1/34th) of the employee’s full-time annualized salary amount for each forty-minute section that employee performs added services, prorated for the number of days in the school year that the employee performs such service.
