Panel with a map Clause Samples

Panel with a map. As the use of a map is a central point of the community mapping process this stage of the workshop will focus on mapping urban and peri-urban areas concerning questions and domains chosen by Facilitator. For this part a printed map of the chosen urban and peri-urban areas will be needed or participants can draw the map by themselves (one map in each group). The participants' task will be defining the type of places that will be referred to in the mapping process. The participants can be asked the following questions about their area: ❖ What do you like about this area? ❖ What do you dislike about this area? ❖ What do you like about this area that is not there anymore? ❖ How would you like this area to be in the future? ❖ Which places are hostile and/or dangerous for you? ❖ Which places are friendly for you? In order to answer those questions the participants will use a map on which they will mark the above mentioned areas. Different colours can correspond to different answers, for example the things that are liked about an area will be in green and the ones that are disliked in red. During the mapping process, the participants can use: sticky notes, colour markers, pins, etc. After this panel, each group will present the outcomes of their work and discuss them together in an open discussion. The maps can be compared by each group (how the space is seen by young people, civil society and local institution representatives?). Also, the urban space could be compared with peri-urban (How many dangerous spaces are in urban and peri-urban spaces? How many friendly spaces are there in those two areas?).
