The Packaging Planning clause outlines the requirements and procedures for organizing, preparing, and managing the packaging of goods for shipment or delivery. It typically specifies the types of packaging materials to be used, labeling standards, and any special handling instructions to ensure products are protected during transit. By establishing clear guidelines for packaging, this clause helps prevent damage, loss, or confusion during shipping, thereby ensuring that goods arrive safely and in the expected condition.
Packaging planning. All parts must be packed in such a way that damage and reductions in quality during transport and storage are prevented. This is irrespective of whoever is responsible for paying the costs of packaging. The Supplier ensures that the goods are delivered in suitable packaging released by the Customer. Any other packaging must be agreed on in advance and released by the Customer. In the case of packaging which is provided by the Customer, the Supplier shall maintain a stock account which shall be submitted to the Customer at any time and on request.
Packaging planning. 3.3.1 Packaging design and approval
(1) Design Suppliers’ responsibility is to develop one way or returnable packaging under consideration of cost-effectiveness and logistic process safety. The packaging design should insure part quality; also satisfy transportation, material flow, line-side, stacking, loading, unloading, and dimension requirements based on BBAC packaging standard. If packaging does not fulfill these requirements, BBAC has the right to nominate the packaging supplier developing the packaging. For every single part number or module there must be a defined packaging proposal provided.
(2) Approval • Supplier must follow following schedule to complete packaging plan. Supplier must use approved packaging concept from PT1. The packaging data should be fixed before PT1 as following schedule except very special case request by BBAC packaging engineer. If any schedule delay by Supplier’s reason. BBAC will charge the supplier for all expenses. • Supplier should bear the resulting cost from the packaging test and packaging on site audit. (including parts cost, packaging cost, log cost and so on) (parts could be no-good parts but no impact for packaging test)
3.3.2 Packaging improvement and redesign
(1) Supplier should positive work with BBAC for packaging continue improvement
(2) Supplier is responsible for packaging concept based on BBAC packaging standard. If any part damage, packaging damage, safety issue and environmental concerns caused by packaging concept, supplier should take responsibility to replace packaging and parts and all loss; If packaging provided by supplier, supplier should be responsible for packaging quality; If any part damage, packaging damage, safety issue and environmental concerns caused by packaging quality, supplier should take responsibility to replace packaging and parts and all loss. Supplier must solve problem positively. If problem can’t be solved on time, for the packaging provided by supplier, BBAC has the right to nominate the packaging supplier developing the packaging, or ask supplier to use other packaging concept (such as returnable packaging switch to one-way packaging, or use different concept). Supplier should bear all loss from this.
