Observed. When a holiday occurs on a Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday; when a holiday occurs on a Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday. If a holiday is observed by the City on another day the UNION will observe the same day.

Observed. Otherwise, if a member observes a designated holiday and does not work during that holiday, the difference between the eight (8) hour holiday and the scheduled hours of work for that day will, at the member’s request and business permitting: • Be added to other days within the workweek; or • Be taken as Personal Leave to maintain the established schedule; or • The day will be designated as the 8-hour day (RIF day). Holidays will be observed and the member observing a holiday will receive eight (8) hours of Holiday Pay in accordance with Article 16.
