Common use of Observation Clause in Contracts

Observation. Bargaining unit members will receive formal observations and periodic classroom walkthroughs as set forth herein. Formal observations shall last for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes with a pre- and post-conference occurring with each formal observation. Except as described below, teachers shall receive at least two (2) formal observations, along with periodic classroom walkthroughs, each school year. In particular, teachers involved in the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (“RESA”) process (i.e., newer teachers who do not possess a professional teaching license) shall be formally observed at least twice, in addition to periodic classroom walkthroughs, each school year. Similarly, teachers new to the District, even if they already possess a professional teaching license, shall be annually formally observed at least twice, in addition to periodic classroom walkthroughs, during their first three years of employment with the District.
