Notification - Illness. To be eligible to use and to receive personal day benefits due to the illness of the employee or the employees immediate family member, the employee must notify his or her department head as soon as possible, but at least within one (1) hour after the time the employee is scheduled to report to work. For each consecutive day thereafter, the employee must notify his or her department head prior to the start of work on each day involved so long as he or she is unable to work, unless other arrangements have been made between the employee and his/her department head. Failure to notify the department head will result in no pay for the day involved. If an employee fails to notify his or her department head, the employee generally, will not be permitted to charge the sick time against personal days and will be subject to disciplinary action.
