Non-Recurring Engineering Fee Clause Samples

A Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) Fee clause defines a one-time charge paid by a customer to cover the costs of designing, developing, or customizing a product or component. This fee typically applies to unique engineering work such as creating prototypes, developing specialized tooling, or modifying existing designs to meet specific requirements. By specifying the NRE fee, the clause ensures that the supplier is compensated for upfront development expenses that are not included in the per-unit price, thereby clarifying cost responsibilities and preventing future disputes over development costs.
