Multilingual Differential Clause Samples
Multilingual Differential a) The County will pay a differential of two hundred ten twenty-five dollars ($210 25) a month to bilingual workers covered by the Social Services Supervisory Bargaining Unit. An additional twenty dollars ($20) per month will be paid for a third language certification (trilingual), and an additional twenty dollars ($20) per month for a fourth language certification (quadrilingual).
b) The County and the Union shall meet at least once during the term of this Agreement to review the number and location of bilingual positions designated.
c) First-line supervisors and staff support employees may receive bilingual pay if their positions have been designated as bilingual.
d) Certification for a second language will be done in accordance with current bilingual certification procedures.
Multilingual Differential. A differential of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) over the monthly base rate will be paid to positions which specifically require multilingual skills (i.e. interpretation to and from English to another language or use of ASL) as a condition of
Multilingual Differential. For positions that require fluency in multiple languages, and the employee can document and demonstrate their fluency in the required languages, the Employer agrees to pay the employee an additional $1 per hour or $2,080 per year. Employees who are assigned by their supervisor to provide simultaneous interpretation shall be paid two hundred ($200) dollars for each instance. Any differential(s) will be paid out at the end of the month in which it was earned, or as otherwise implemented in the payroll system. An employee may be eligible for both spoken and written/interpretation translation differentials.
Multilingual Differential. EBCLC employees who qualify for a language differential will be paid an annual amount of $500, added to the employee's base salary and paid out over the regular payroll schedule (normally 2 pay periods per month). To qualify for a language differential, an employee must: • Regularly use one of the following languages in the performance of their duties: Spanish, Mam, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Arabic; • Receive supervisor approval for the language differential; and • Submit a Language Differential Request Form. If an employee's job title changes within the organization, the employee will be expected to submit a new Language Differential Request Form. Newly hired employees will only be eligible to submit a Language Differential Request Form upon successful completion of their 90-day introductory period. In the event that a supervisor subsequently approves a newly hired employee for a multilingual differential, they will receive retroactive payment of that differential for the period starting at their date of hire. In the event that a supervisor approves a current employee for a multilingual differential, the employee will begin accruing multilingual differential pay starting on the date of supervisor approval. If an employee regularly uses a language other than one of the languages listed above in the performance of their duties, they may petition for eligibility for a language differential by sending an email to the Labor Management Committee.
