Mitigation Funding. Recognizing the disruption that the reductions will cause to fishers and communities on the WCVI, the U.S. agreed mitigation was warranted. Canada will receive $30 M of new funding from the U.S. over two years. How this money will be distributed and whether or not more funding is required from Canada are issues that will be determined through consultation with affected people and communities. Area G trollers will be compensated for lost fishing opportunities. Canada will determine how the mitigation funding will best offset the impact to WCVI fishermen and communities.
