Common use of MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT Clause in Contracts

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT. 1. All employees covered by this Collective Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, become and remain members of the British Columbia Teachers‟ Federation and the Arrow Lakes Teachers‟ Association, subject to Article A.3. 2. Where provisions of the Previous Local Agreement or the Previous Letter of Understanding in a district exempted specified employees from the requirement of membership, those provisions shall continue unless and until there remain no exempted employees in that district. All terms and conditions of exemption contained in the Previous Local Agreement or the Previous Letter of Understanding shall continue to apply. An exempted employee whose employment is terminated for any reason and who is subsequently rehired, or who subsequently obtains membership, shall become and/or remain a member of the BCTF and the Arrow Lakes Teachers‟ Association in accordance with this Collective Agreement.
