Common use of Meal/Break Periods Clause in Contracts

Meal/Break Periods. Every employee shall be granted compensated meal/break time at the rate of fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours of continuous work, or major fraction thereof. Compensated meal/break time shall be included and taken within the employee’s regular shift. The allocated time may be used in one block, or in smaller time blocks, with the consent of the employee’s supervisor. No other break or rest periods are granted, or recognized, during the regular shift. In such cases where the employee is unable to take the meal/break period, due to the work load, no special compensation (including overtime pay) may be granted.
