Common use of Low Census Call Clause in Contracts

Low Census Call. Occurs when the Hospital requests the nurse to take call rather than report for a regularly scheduled shift. A decision for low census call will be made no later than one (1) hour prior to the start of the shift. When the Hospital recalls a nurse, the nurse is expected to return to work and will be paid time and one half of the nurse’s base wage for the remainder of the scheduled shift. If a nurse is placed on call for a partial shift and is instructed to come in for a second part of the shift, those hours will be paid at base rate.
