Logical Connection. PVCs provide logical connectivity between port connections. Unlike the static capacity allocation of a private line, the combination of the port connection and its PVCs allows real-time, dynamic capacity allocation. PVCs will automatically reroute around frame relay (wide area) network failures. PVC capacity is defined by the Committed Information Rate (CIR).
