Common use of Local Access and Transport Area Clause in Contracts

Local Access and Transport Area. (LATA) means a contiguous geographic area: (1) established before the date of enactment of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 by BA-__ such that no Exchange area includes points within more than one EXHIBIT D metropolitan statistical area, consolidated metropolitan statistical area, or state, except as expressly permitted under the AT&T Consent Decree; or (2) established or modified by BA-__ after such date of enactment and approved by the Federal Communications Commission.
