The "Lesson Content" clause defines the scope, ownership, and permitted use of materials provided as part of a lesson or educational program. Lesson Content. In the investigation, presentation, and interpretation of facts and ideas within the prescribed course of study, teachers shall be free to examine, present and responsibly discuss various points of view in an atmosphere of open inquiry, provided that the instruction, material or discussion:
A. is appropriate to the age and maturity level of the students;
B. is related to and consistent with the prescribe curriculum, course of study, and textbook/materials for the class in question; and
C. is a fair and balanced academic presentation of various points of view consistent with accepted standards of professional responsibility, rather than advocacy, personal opinion, bias or partisanship.
Lesson Content. When exploring, presenting, and interpreting facts and ideas, a teacher may express a personal opinion, but they must identify it as such and must not express such an opinion for the purpose of persuading students to their point of view. Teachers can freely examine and discuss various perspectives in an open learning environment, as long as the instruction, material, or discussion:
9.1.1 Suits the age of students and takes into account their cognitive and emotional development; and
9.1.2 Aligns with the adopted/assigned curriculum, course, and class materials; and
9.1.3 Provides a fair, balanced academic representation of different viewpoints, adhering to professional standards without promoting biases, or partisanship.
Lesson Content. 24.3.1.1 Instruction shall be presented in a fair, accurate, and objective manner that is consistent with the curriculum for the class and appropriate to the age and maturity of students. Instruction shall also be sensitive to the community needs, diverse values, cultures and heritage of students and their families.
